Carol Joan Jewell, 72, of Broken Bow passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at McAlester, Oklahoma. She was born on May 8, 1939 in Denver, Colorado to Raymond E. and Nora Opal Foster Halbert. Joan had lived in McCurtain County most of her life, moving here from Blythe, California. She was an employee of the Golden Senior Citizens Center and a member of the Church Of God. Joan enjoyed cooking, fishing, camping, going to the casino and spending time with her grandchildren. Joan is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph Jewell; sisters, Luann Schroyer and Shirley Barnes and brothers, David and Jack Halbert. She leaves to cherish her memory; sons and daughter in-laws, Scott and Melinda Jewell of Crowder, Oklahoma, Raymond and Lisa Jewell of Broken Bow and Tator Jewell of Broken Bow; daughters and son in-laws, Rose and Mike Williamson of McAlester, Oklahoma and Liz Young of Indianola, Oklahoma; brothers, Mike and Lloyd Halbert both of Tucson, Arizona; sisters Patsy Yraguen of Payette, Idaho and Eve Bomesburger of Broken Bow; grandchildren, Ashley Buxton, Eric Jewell, Chase Jewell, Bridgette Chaney, David Williamson, Michael Williamson, Ryan Jewell, Juanita Williamson, Donald Williamson, Tyler Young, Whitney Jewell, Emily Jewell, Albert Williamson; 12 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends and a Very Special friend Marie Freeman.
Visitation for Ms. Jewell will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 from 6-8 PM at the Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the Lukfata Baptist Church with Wayne Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in the Watson Memorial Cemetery.
