Alton Dewon Compton

Alton Dewon Compton, age 86, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at his home in the Honey Grove Community, surrounded by his family. Alton was born on January 4, 1931 in the Honey Grove Community, the son of the late William Compton and Lora Edwards Compton. Alton married the love of his life, Arlene Bray Compton on January 6, 1949 in DeQueen, Arkansas. He served on the Holly Creek School Board for over 12 years. Alton was a rancher and enjoyed taking care of the cattle and horses. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening but most of all he cherished his time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Alton was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lora Compton and sister, Genevieve Thomas.

His memory will be forever cherished by his wife of 68 years, Arlene of the home; children, Ronnie Compton and wife Connie of Valliant, Ok., Vickie Pratt and husband Steve of the Honey Grove Community and Tammy Frazier and husband Mike of Valliant, Ok.; grandchildren, Stephanie Pratt of the Honey Grove Community, Bart Pratt of Broken Bow, Ok., Kelly Compton of Valliant, Ok., Kaci Roberts and husband Jason of Valliant, Ok., Brandon Frazier and wife Ashley of Valliant, Ok., Brawna Chowins and husband Hunter of McAlester, Ok.; great grandchildren, Trent Pratt, Braileigh Pratt, Hallie Pratt of Broken Bow, Ok., Alexander Gray of Idabel, Ok., Raelan Bailey, Jaydan Bailey, Shali Compton and Brayden Roberts , Addyson Frazier and Ashdyn Frazier of Valliant, Ok., Tuff and Knox Chowins of McAlester, Ok.; great great grandchildren, Paisleigh Dillishaw and Carson Dillishaw of Broken Bow, Oklahoma;  nephew, Jerry Thomas; brothers in law, Glenn Bray and wife Lynn and Charles Bray and wife Susan; a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, December 4, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Broken Bow with the Bro. Clint Bray officiating.

Interment will follow at the Holly Creek Cemetery in Holly Creek, Oklahoma.
