Arvel Lindberg Gaskey, age 89, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at his home in  Wright City, Oklahoma, surrounded by his family. Arvel was born on September 11, 1928 at  Sand Springs Branch in the Herndon Community, the son of Ed Gaskey and Alice Ferguson Gaskey.   Arvel  had lived in the community all of his life.  Arvel and Bertie Jo (Jody) Gaskey were united in marriage on August 6, 1955 sharing 43 years together, until  her death in 1998. Arvel proudly served his country in the United States Army, while serving he received a Korean Service Medal and a Bronze Service Star. He was a member of the American Legion Post 74. Arvel  was employed with the Wright City Schools as a mechanic for many years. After his retirement from the school, Arvel owned and operated G & G Hay Baling.  Arvel was a man who loved people, always having a good story to tell or a prank to pull on someone. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing  pitch, doing mechanic work and his trips to Oregon. Arvel loved his family and cherished his time with them, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  His memory will be forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Arvel was preceded in death by his wife, Bertie Jo (Jody) Gaskey; his parents, Ed and Alice Gaskey; brothers, Earl Gaskey, Charlie Gaskey, Delbert Gaskey, Edward Gaskey, Cortez (Ted) Gaskey and Harvey Don Gaskey and two infant sisters.

His memory will be forever cherished by his children, Melvin Lee Gaskey of Pawnee, Oklahoma, Delinda Fenley and  husband Melvin Wayne of Valliant, Oklahoma, Terry DeWitt and husband Larry of Millerton, Oklahoma and Sandy Hamill and husband Mike of Rome, Georgia, Arvel Wayne and wife Jodie,  Lyn Gaskey and wife Sandy of Wright City, Ok.;  13 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; special friends, Wayne and Lynell Moore of Wright City, Oklahoma; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Chapel Assembly of God in the Herndon Community, Wright City, Oklahoma with the Bro. Lyn Gaskey and Bro. Scott Stuart officiating.

Interment will follow at the Wheelock Cemetery in Millerton, Oklahoma.
