Barrentine (Bear) Tushka

Barrentine (Bear) Tushka, age 82, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018 at the McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel, Oklahoma. Barrentine  was born, November 19, 1935 in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, the son of Benson Tushka and Swezzie Jones Tushka .  He attended Goodland Indian School. Barrentine and Nancy McKinney Tushka were united in marriage on December 3, 1958. He was a member of the McGee Chapel Presbyterian Church in Broken Bow.  Barrentine was an avid OU and Broken Bow Savage Fan. He enjoyed family gatherings, going fishing and hunting, and spending time with family and friends.

Barrentine was preceded in death by his parents, Benson and Swezzie Tushka; two grandsons, Steven (Army) Stewart and Angelo Tushka; sister, Elencie Jessie and one aunt, Lizzie King.

His memory will be forever cherished by his wife of 59 years, Nancy Tushka of the home; children, Ray Tushka and wife Fern, Darrell Tushka, Melvin Tushka, Michael Tushka, Gloria Bond, Peggy Jefferson and Theresa Tushka all of Broken Bow, Ok., and  Brenda Smith and husband Steve of Idabel, Ok.; 26 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; two brothers, Otis Tushka of Cherokee, North Carolina and Bennie Tushka of Broken Bow; one sister, Lewezie Calonaheskie of Cherokee, North Carolina; numerous, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends.

A wake service will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home in Broken Bow, OKlahoma.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Bow with the Bro. Edgel Samuel officiating.

Interment will follow at the McGee Chapel Cemetery in Broken Bow.
