Billy Wayne Nelson

Billy Wayne Nelson, 68, of Eagletown, Oklahoma, passed away, Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. Billy was born March 7, 1949 in Eagletown, the son of Henry Nelson and Frances Colbert Nelson. Billy had lived in the community all of his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Army receiving a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star while serving in Vietnam. Billy was an avid Dallas Cowboy and OU fan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. His granddaughters, Laiken and Lauren was his world. Billy touched many lives with his very giving and caring heart. He will be missed and remembered by all who knew him.

Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Neda Nelson; parents, Henry and Frances Nelson; step daughter, Kim Marable; sisters, Dorothy Fisher, Lula Pete, Rachelle Day and Mary Lee; brother, Will Nelson.

His memory will be forever cherished by his daughter, Elizabeth "Prissy" Emerson and Bret of DeQueen, Arkansas; stepson, Cecil "Bubba" Griffin of Horatio, Arkansas; grandchildren, Laiken Emerson, Lauren Emerson, Michelle Gipson, Jared Marable, Dustin Dabbs and Sarah Griffin; 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; sisters, Donzelle Jenkins and husband J.W. of Idabel and Betty Napanee Ebert of Haworth; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 14, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home in Broken Bow.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Bow with the Bro. Cy Davis officiating.

Interment will follow at the Mountain Fork Cemetery in Eagletown, Oklahoma.
