Welcome to the memorial page for

Evelyn Jean Brockus

April 17, 1929 ~ November 11, 2017 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Evelyn Jean Brockus passed from this earth on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Broken Bow Health and Rehab Nursing Home at 2:45 p.m. , after an extended illness. She is finally at peace with no more fear. Just one of God's great blessings.

She was born as Evelyn Willhite in Sebastian County, Arkansas, on April 17, 1929, to Kirby Willhite and Viola DeFoor Willhite. Although she lived in several communities growing up such as Heavner and Poteau, Oklahoma, Mountain Pine and Oden, Arkansas, her favorite memories seemed to be of the Oden, Arkansas time frame. Somewhere along the way she gave herself the middle name of Jean.

At the age of 15, she left Mountain Pine to go to work in DeQueen, Arkansas as a nurse's aide and to finish high school. Although she did not finish high school at the time, in later years she did acquire her GED.  While working at the hospital, she met and married her first husband, James Milam. They had three children: Charlene Jordan, James Milam, Jr. and Jerry Milam. James passed away December 9, 1962.

In February of 1972 she married James Benjamin Brockus from Kulli Tuklo, southeast of Idabel. They did not have any children. He passed away, July 10, 2013.

Jean believed in God and had a firm belief that she would be with him in Heaven when this life is over.

Jean is survived by one sister, Mary Alice Passmore, who still lives southeast of Broken Bow. She had one brother, Carl Dean Willhite who passed away in recent years.

Jean is survived by her children, Charlene Jordan and husband Wayne of Broken Bow, James Milam Jr. and wife Kathy of Portland, Tennessee and Jerry Milam of Broken Bow; 9 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren, Jamie and Alex Fields and  children, Bria, Samantha, Farai, Lexi, Gabriel, Christen, Faith and Isaiah, Emily And Artie Hudson and children, Ana Grace and Roy Wyatt, Daniel Jordan and children, Dawson, Dillion and Drew,Tracy and Michael Kesterson and children, Nicholas, Bryan and Cynthia, Kim and Rick Pearson, no children, Shane and Melissa Milam and children, Weston, Spencer, Clara and Taran, Benjamin and Kristin Milam and children, Avery, Evan, Olivia and Aubree, Josh and JJ Milam, no children, Tina and Jamie Strawn and children, Kayla, Amber and Rance, Todd Findley, 2 children; one sister in law, Gayle Willhite; a host of other relatives and many special friends.
