Hazel Mae Thomas, 60, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, went home to be with the Lord on January 5, 2018, at Paris Regional Medical Center. Hazel was born on August 16, 1957, in Harris, Oklahoma, to Verna Christine Marshall and Derbert Peace. Hazel attended Dunbar Schools and later married Mikey Thomas, Sr. in 1974. She went on to have five children and spent the majority of her life in Broken Bow. Hazel worked various jobs to include housekeeping, poultry processor at Tyson Foods and environmental services for the Kiamichi Area Vo-Tech. Hazel enjoyed cooking, shopping, listening to music, dancing and spending time with family and friends. She had an infectious laugh and brought joy to so many that knew her well.

Hazel is survived by 5 children, her sons Calvin Marshall of Broken Bow, Mikey Thomas Jr. of Grady, Arkansas, Tyrone Thomas and Amber Seib of Broken Bow, and daughters Samritha and husband Rusty Sanchez of Monument, Colorado, and Zonzurea Thomas and fiancé Emanuel Kressel of Durant, Oklahoma and Delaware respectively.  Hazel had 11 grandchildren; Kendrick, Patrick and Keenan Marshall, Keywon Pickens, Tyneisha Sanders, Tyler and Tyra Thomas, Gabriella, Arianna and Caleb Sanchez and Nehemiah Runnels. She also had 4 great grandchildren, her brothers, Robert Lee “RL” Marshall and Johnny Marshall of Oklahoma City, Derbert Marshall of Chandler, Oklahoma, and Dean Marshall of Tulsa, one sister, Dorothy Faye Marshall of McLoud, Oklahoma, a sister-in-law Earnestine Thomas and aunt Margree Ramsey of Oklahoma City as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Mikey Thomas, Sr., her parents Verna Christine Marshall and Derbert Peace, a brother James Lee “JL” Marshall and his children James and Jasmine, two sisters Ada Marie Wooten and Shirley Ann Chandler as well as nephews Charles Wooten, Jr. and Phillip Owens.

Hazel’s request prior to her passing away was to have a Memorial Service and Celebration of Life. Services are scheduled to begin Thursday, January 11th at 2:00 pm at the Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel. Flower arrangements may also be sent to Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home.
