Billey “Bill” Leon Ross, 85, of Wright City, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018, at Paris Regional Medical Center in Paris, Texas. Bill was born on June 1, 1933, to Robert C. Ross and Nora Mae Cantrell Ross in the Happy Land Community east of Ada, Oklahoma.
Bill was preceded in death by his grandson; Jeremy DeWayne Speck, his dad and mom, and both of his parents-in-law; Harvey and Dovie Ardall Stephens Baker, various sisters and brothers-in-law and friends.
Bill joined the United States Navy in 1953 and served until 1956. Bill was a graduate of East Central University, where he received his teaching degree. He taught Shop at the School for the Deaf in Sulphur, Oklahoma. He moved himself and family to Wright City, Oklahoma in 1965, where he worked as the sawmill supervisor until her retired in 1991. He was a member of the Wright City School Board and the local Jaycee’s chapter.
Bill married Anitta June Baker Ross, of the home in 1956. They were married for 62 years. They raised three daughters; Debbie Ross McCary of Wright City, Oklahoma, Sylvia Baker Ross Ellison of Lolita, Texas, and Barbara Ross Ebahotubbi of Wright City, Oklahoma, two sons-in-law; Jera McCary and Les Ellison, Bill has 6 grandkids, 10 great-grandkids, and 3 great-great grandkids.
He loved camping, fishing, and hunting with family and friends. He enjoyed history and loved taking his family on vacations to historical sights and National Parks. His dogs, Buddy, Odie, and Granddog, Jaxi, made him smile and happy every day. They will miss their daddy/Pawpa. Rest in Peace, until we meet again.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2018, at 2:00 PM at the Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel.
