Esther Keno (Owens) Obituary

           Esther A. Keno (Owens), 92, of Houston, Texas passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Brookdale Tanglewood in Houston, Texas. Esther was born on June 29, 1926, to the late Frank and Fern Keno in Wister, Oklahoma. Esther grew up at Carter Seminary, an Indian School in Ardmore, Oklahoma. She remained proud of her Chickasaw heritage throughout her life.

          She married Roy Owens, had six children and raised them in Clarksville, Texas. After moving to Houston in 1966, she went to work for GE & Hughes Tool on the production line, becoming one of the first women to work there. Esther was very involved in the Labor Union and was President of the local union for years. After retirement, Esther traveled the world with her then husband, Earl Krohn. Esther later became a Real Estate Broker and volunteered at Memorial Hermann Hospital at Memorial City in Houston for 8 years. Esther will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

            Esther is preceded in death by her children; Billy Frank Owens, Robert Owens, and Karen Sue Owens Johnson, ex-husband and father of her children; Roy Owens, grandchildren; Kenneth Owens, and Eric Owens, brothers; Grady Keno, Bill Keno, Al Keno, Elbert Keno, and Ermon Keno, niece; Jonny Hicks, and nephew; John Stacy.

            She leaves to cherish her memory, her children; Kathy Owens Willis and husband, Jerry, Marvin Owens, Roy L. Owens, and foster son; Danny Farmer, brother; Frank Keno, Jr., sister; Alma Stacy, grandchildren; Brenda White, Billie Toal, Jennifer Owens May, Kevin Owens, Kari Owens Homan, Tarra Lynn Jones, Kolby Johnson, Kris Johnson, Jimmy Owens, and Felisha Owens Petty, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

            A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on November 18, 2018, at 12:00 PM at the Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Bow, Oklahoma with Rev. Kimberly Purl officiating.

         Inurnment of the cremains will follow at Byrms Cemetery, Tom, Oklahoma.
