Bennie L. Hopson completed her earthly journey on Monday, June 17, 2024, at the age of 91. She was born May 8, 1933, in Winthrop, AR to parents, Royal and Jettie (Dowell) Brooks.

James married Bennie Brooks on May 18, 1951, in DeQueen, AR and they shared seventy-two years together, their marriage was blessed with seven children.

Bennie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Family was very important to her, and if anything was going on she wanted to be right in the middle of things. She enjoyed baking, sewing, hunting, fishing, riding horses and tending cows with the boys. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, R.A. and Jettie (Dowell) Brooks, husband, James O. Hopson; infant daughter, Judy Hopson; brothers, Ralph Brooks and G.G. Brooks; sister, Ethel Brooks and one great-great-grandchild.

Bennie leaves to cherish her memory children, Annette and Ivan Toon of Watson, Randy and Gail Hopson of Eagletown, Keith and Susie Hopson of Eagletown, Joyce Hopson and Mike Stone of Broken Bow, Bruce and Gail Hopson of Eagletown, Kevin and Karen Hopson of Broken Bow; twenty-three grandchildren, forty-nine great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law,  Alla Fae Webb of Watson; special friends, Audie Covington, Shirley Leonard, Dob Worley, Patsy Lutrell Farmer; numerous nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Bow, OK.

Funeral Services are set for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Bow, OK with Don Cook officiating. Interment to follow at Eagletown Cemetery, Eagletown, OK.
