Bernie M Davis formerly of Broken Bow passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023 in Durant, OK at the age of 70. She was born August 20, 1952, in Talihina, OK to parents, Willie and Vera (Lewis) Sampson.
Bernie and Michael Davis were united in marriage on July 23, 1971, in Wright City, OK and shared fifty-one years together before her passing.
Bernie was a member of Nanih Chito United Methodist Church in Wright City, OK. She taught in the Broken Bow School System for twenty-six years, later moving to Durant where she taught for sixteen years in The Choctaw Language Dept. teaching Choctaw in Public High Schools throughout the Choctaw Nation. Being a fluent Choctaw Speaker, she taught an apprentice program to develop fluent Choctaw Speakers. She enjoyed collecting Roosters and attending her grandchildren’s activities and going to church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Vera (Lewis) Sampson; one son, Chimon Davis and sister, Barbara Ridenour.
Bernie leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Mike Davis of the home in Durant; Marcia and Chris Davis of Sasakwa, OK, Sarah and Joel Padilla of Ada, OK and Myron Davis of Pauls, Valley, OK; seven grandchildren, Andre Davis, Darian Davis, Elizabeth Hardeman, Cedric Davis, Wyatt Davis, Nathan Padilla and Evan Padilla; two great-grandchildren, Xaven Hardeman and Spencer Hardeman; a special aunt Ella Going of Broken Bow; a host of other family and friends.
Wake Service will be held from 6-8 p.m., Friday, January 20, 2023, at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home.
Funeral Services are set for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Bow, OK with Rev. July Tecumseh and Lester Tims officiating. Interment to follow at Nanih Chito Cemetery, Wright CIty, OK.
The family will have lunch from 11:30 to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the Choctaw Nation Community Center, Broken Bow, OK.
