Betty Muse Obituary

Betty Muse, a beacon of love and strength, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, at the age of 88 in Idabel, Oklahoma. Born on December 18, 1936, in Fanshawe, Oklahoma, Betty was the cherished daughter of the late John Wesley Dixon Branscum and Bertha (Buxton) Branscum


Betty's journey began as a small-town girl with a heart full of dreams. She met and married the love of her life, James Junior Muse on July 9, 1955 in Fanshawe, OK.


Betty was a devoted member of Hochatown First Assembly of God Church, she lived her beliefs through her actions and unwavering support for her community. Betty worked as a Cosmetologist in earlier years. She retired from First Bank & Trust in 2003 after serving close to thirty years as a Bank Teller. She always had a welcoming smile for her customers.


Her nurturing nature extended beyond her family to her flower beds and garden, which she tended with the same care and dedication. Betty’s hands, always busy, brought beauty and growth to the world around her. She was a supporter of her grandchildren’s endeavors, always present, always encouraging, and always proud. Her love was a guiding light that led them to pursue their passions with confidence and grace.


She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Junior Muse; her brothers, Billy Joe, Johnny Ray, Jerry Dean, and Glen Herbert Branscum; grandchildren, Nathan Miller and Ashley Miller


Betty leaves to cherish her memory her children, Saundra Driesel of Broken Bow, Cheryl Miller (Ronny) of Valliant, James Wesley Muse (Jan) of Broken Bow, and Michael Wayne Muse (LaDonna) of Broken Bow; sister, Margaret Ann Ford of Sapulpa, OK and sister-in-law,  Roberta Branscum of McLoud, OK; her memory will forever be cherished by her nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.


Visitation will be held from 6-7 P.M. Saturday evening at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home.


Graveside Services are set for 2:00 P.M., Sunday, July 20, 2025 at Hochatown Cemetery, Hochatown, OK with Pastor Jimmy Westbrook officiating.
