Betty Jean Phillips

Betty Jean (Rector) Phillips, 77, of Bethel, OK, passed from this life, August 29, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Betty was born March 1, 1943, in Rufe, OK, to Johnnie Rector and Beulah (Tollett) Rector.

Betty loved to travel, cook, crochet, sew, and work puzzles. She enjoyed gardening, camping, hummingbirds, and spending time with the Senior Citizen group. Holidays were her favorite and she loved the color purple. She was an Elvis Presley fan. Her door was always open to anyone in need. The family will always remember her as being very humble and soft spoken, but also a big prankster. Betty was passionate about teaching and taught the students at Battiest Public Schools for many years and will forever be remembered by the lives she touched there. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Jim Rector, twin brothers, Larry and Jerry Rector; one grandson, Chase Neal Bess.

Betty leaves to cherish her memory her children, Connie Phillips and husband, Ricky Smith of Smithville, OK, Kurt Phillips of Bethel, OK, Jamie Phillips of Broken Bow, OK, Lisa Daniel and husband, Joe of Durant, OK, Heidi Grant and husband, E.J. of Durant, OK; grandchildren, Brock and Alex Marable, Raven and Mark Dorton, Zath Marable and Toni, Scout Dorsey and Blake, Amber Bailey, Morgan Bailey and Alicia, Alyssa Kessler, Carlee Harkey, Parker and Piper Grant; great-grandchildren, Kaeson Bailey, Anna Marable Cruz, Blaine and Zaylee Marable, Auggie and Octavia Dorton, Ryder Kessler, Shadda and Suede Dorsey:  a host of other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday evening, September 1, 2020 at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Bethel, OK.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Battiest School Cafetorium with Bro. David Hardin officiating.
