Betty Jo Jennings Obituary

Betty Jo Green Jennings, lovingly known as “Mama Betty,” passed away peacefully on May 24,
2026, at the age of 94. She was born on February 29, 1932, in Goodwater, Oklahoma, and lived a
long and colorful life full of adventure, strong convictions, and unforgettable memories.


Betty had a personality that was impossible to ignore, always carrying herself with a rare sense
of style, confidence, and glamour that showcased her bold nature. She loved fashion, beauty,
music, and conversation, possessing a charisma that naturally drew people to her.
Known for her strong will, Betty never hesitated to speak her mind. If she believed in something,
she stood by it, and if she loved someone, she loved them fiercely. She could light up a room
with her presence, her stories, and her unmistakable character, leaving a lasting impression on
just about everyone who met her.


Over the years, life carried Betty through many different chapters, but family always remained
deeply important to her. Those closest to her will remember her warmth, her wit, her
stubbornness, her strength, and the spark that stayed with her throughout her life.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jonnye Jera McCary; her parents, Lee and
Merlie C. Green; her brother, RC Green; and her sisters, Ella, Alma, Ila, Pat, and Jane.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Debbie McCary of Wright City, OK; her grandchildren,
Keri Emery of Dallas, TX, Kam McCary of Holly Creek, OK, and Keenan C. McCary of the Iron
Stob Community; her great-grandchildren Keenan Jade, Roy, Kyle, Kaleb, and Heaven; along
with a host of beloved great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.


Betty leaves behind a legacy that will continue to live on through the people who knew and
loved her. She will be dearly missed and warmly remembered.


A Private Memorial Service will be held on a later date.
