Our dearly loved father and husband, Bill Bailey, was born on December 30, 1940, to Charles Orben and Sweetie Malena Bailey, in Broken Bow, OK. Bill passed from this life on September 1, 2021, surrounded by his immediate family.
Bill married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Sue Webb, on September 7, 1961. They enjoyed sixty years together in marriage.
Bill graduated from Eastern Oklahoma A&M College in Wilburton. He hitchhiked back and forth on the weekends to see Barbara and helped put himself through college by opening a barber shop in his dorm room.
After graduation, Bill took over the reigns from his father and operated Bailey Sawmill and Post Treating Plant, which later became Bailey Lumber Company & Building Supply. He owned/operated the family business for fifty-eight years.
Cattle have always been a part of the Bailey Family History. Over the course of the last fifty years, Bill turned his commercial cow/calf operation into two registered breeds, Limousin and Simmental, and officially opened Bailey Cattle Company. Year after year, he genetically improved his herd until he produced a new, unique breed. He enjoyed seeing and working his cow/calf operation and producing herd bulls to help others improve their herds.
Bill loved deer camp, hunting, fishing, gardening, and telling many stories that were always full of advice. Bill Bailey was a wonderful man who had a kind word to say about everyone who had the good fortune of knowing him. He lived a full life and loved every day he walked this bountiful earth….. but, most of all, Bill loved his family and his Heavenly Father.
Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara Sue Bailey, three children – daughter Carolyn Bailey Baldwin and life partner Peter Sites, son Michael Bailey and wife Stacy, daughter Deborah Smith and husband Todd. Also left to cherish his memory are six grandchildren – Mitchell Bailey, Trenton Max Baldwin and wife Kelsea, Shaye Bailey Kirkpatrick and husband Kyle, MaKayla Smith, Trey Smith and Trinity Smith. Bill also leaves his pride and joy, the great-grandchildren, Ella Joy Kirkpatrick, Jaydee Nash Baldwin, Kace Bailey Kirkpatrick, and great-grand-God daughter, Renee Dutch Persinger. He loved his fur babies, Kaleigh and Little Bit.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, C. O. and Sweetie Malena Bailey, his sister Polly Vondell Pate, his brother James O. Bailey and a grandson, Brandon Shane Baldwin.
