Bobby Gene Brantley, age 96, entered his heavenly home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at his home in Broken Bow, OK. He was born to Matt and Lizzie Brantley on October 7, 1929. He married the love of his life, Helen Lucille Proctor, on September 10, 1949.
Bobby passed from this life leaving behind a legacy of hard work, devotion, and deep love for family. He was a man who believed that a job worth doing was a job worth finishing, and he carried that unwavering determination with him every day of his life. He was a member of Pine Top Missionary Baptist Church in Broken Bow, OK and a longstanding member of the Broken Bow Masonic Lodge.
Bobby found his greatest joy outdoors, running cattle and running dogs. The land wasn’t just where he worked – it was where he felt most at home. Whether tending to his herds or watching his dogs work with steady focus and pride, he embraced the simple, honest life that came with a sunrise, long days, and dirt on his boots.
Though he loved the work and the way of life that shaped him, Bobby’s heart belonged first and foremost to his family. He was a man of steady presence and quiet strength; someone his loved ones could rely on without question. Of all the blessings in his life, his most precious love was his wife, Lucille “Mother.” She was his partner, his confidante, and the center of his world. The devotion he showed her was evident to all who knew them, a testament to a love built on respect, loyalty, and shared years.
Bobby was also a proud father to his nine children, each of whom carried a piece of his heart with them. His love for them was boundless, and he devoted himself fully to their well-being, guiding them with his wisdom and teaching them the value of hard work, perseverance, and family.
In addition to his children, Bobby had his very own “herd” of grandchildren. He reveled in the joy of being a grandfather, and his love for these little ones knew no bounds.
He will be remembered for his strong hands, his determined spirit, and the deep love he carried for his family – especially for Lucille, his children, and his grandchildren. His memory will live on in the fields he tended, the dogs he ran, and in the hearts of all who were blessed to call him husband, father, grandfather, family, and friend.
He was preceded in death by parents, Matt and Lizzie Brantley; children, Kathy Lynn Richards, Ricky Warren Brantley, Robert Lee Brantley; son-in-law, Paul Roberts; granddaughter, Rita Brantley; great-grandson, Rowdy Brantley; brothers, Julius Brantley, Darvill Brantley, Dale Brantley and Rudolph Brantley; sister, Marie Vaughn.
Bobby leaves behind to cherish his loving memory wife, Helen Lucille Brantley of the home; children, Gail Shrouder and Roger; Carl Brantley and Cathy; Debora Toon and LaDale; Denise Chappell and Rick; Kelly Brantley and Samantha; Bonnie Bean and Joe; son-in-law, Sammy Richards; daughters-in-law, Cindy Brantley; Kathy Brantley; sisters-in-law, Bobbie Brantley; Christinia Proctor and Faye Proctor; brother-in-law, Johnny Proctor; along with thirty-three grandchildren; seventy great-grandchildren and thirty-three great-great-grandchildren.
