John Brady Lumpkin, age 27, of Smithville, OK passed from this life on June 16, 2020 in Marietta, OH from a three-year battle with spinal cord injuries resulting from an ATV accident. Although he is gone too soon, Brady leaves a legacy of love, friendship, and kindness to all who knew him. Brady enjoyed hunting and fishing, but he loved sports, both as a player and following his favorite teams, especially the OU Sooners, Cleveland Browns plus watching every televised NASCAR race. One of his best memories was being able to ride along in a race car on the track at The Charlotte Motor Speedway during a family vacation.
Brady is survived by his longtime girlfriend plus loving caregiver these past three years, Tiffany Oldfield, his mother and stepfather, Susan and Larry Hughes and his father, Steve Lumpkin. Stepbrother, Cory Hughes and stepsister, Sarah Hughes. His aunts and uncles, Judy and Lawrence Earls, Johnny and Sue Butler, Cheryl and Larry Bell, Bruce and Jan Webster, Amy and Micheal Payne, John and Judy Hughes, Tee and James Todd, Gary and Kathy Hughes, and Brian and Stacey Hughes along with numerous cousins as well as other loving family and friends.
Brady was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leonard “Bob” and Joyce Lumpkin, Leon “Son” and Shirley Wadley, Joe and Pat Hughes, an uncle, Jimmy Butler and a cousin, Michael Womack.
Services for Brady will be held at 10 am, Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at the Octavia Baptist Church in Octavia, OK with Pastor Ed Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at the Octavia Cemetery, Octavia, OK.
Pallbearers will be Cory Hughes, Rick Jewell, Johnny Butler, Jr., Shannon Cogburn, Jack Briggs, Stacy Nichols, and Jerry Bell.
