Christy Jean Wooten Obituary

Sister Christy Jean Wooten was born June 17, 1978 in Dequeen, Arkansas to the late Charles Winford Wooten Sr., and Ada Marie Wooten. She was the 6th child born out of 8 children. Although Christy was born in Dequeen AR, she grew up in Broken Bow, Oklahoma on Washington Street, and she was loved by all who knew her. She had a Godly impact on everyone that was Blessed to be in her presence. Christy was a 1996 graduate of Broken Bow High school, and she later received a degree in Culinary Arts from the Kiamichi Area Vo-tech in Idabel, Oklahoma.

She professed a life in Christ under the ministry of the late Superintendent F.T. Pratt, Pastor of the Williams Temple Church of God in Christ in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. But upon relocating to Arkansas, she joined the Evergreen Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Pastor Rufus L. Robinson. As an active member there, she served in the Hospitality Department, an assistant Sunday School Teacher for the Adult class, the Pastor’s Aid President, she was active in the Y.W.C.C. and she assisted with the Sunshine Band Children’s Ministry. Then, a little later in her life, she joined the Northside Church of God in Christ in Mineral Springs, AR; also under the leadership of Pastor Rufus L. Robinson. Sister Christy was a faithful and active member of the Church until her health began to fail her.

Sister Christy loved her family dearly; especially her nieces and nephews! They were so special to her. And although she loved them, she was no nonsense!

And she spent her time teaching them the Word of God! She also helped them with their homework; she fed them, engaged in activities with them, and when it was necessary; she disciplined them in love. She was a very loving daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and prayer partner!

Sister Christy departed this life on Sunday January 2, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles Winford Sr., and Ada Marie Wooten, her brother Charles W. Wooten Jr., her sister Charlesetta Marie Wooten, her maternal and paternal grandparents and her two sons. She leaves to cherish her memory, three sisters: Carla (Timothy) Miller of Mineral Springs, AR, Jeanetta (Ray Sr.) Hawkins of Mineral Springs, Arkansas and Rashonda Vaughn of Mineral Springs, Arkansas. Three Brothers: Winford T. Wooten Sr., Sumter South Carolina, Jason (Kendra) Wooten, Texarkana, TX and Adrian (Lisa) Wooten, Mineral Springs, Arkansas. Plus, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2021, at Victory Life Church in Broken Bow with Pastor Rufus L. Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at Lukfata Cemetery under the direction of Bunch Singleton Funeral Home.
