Cletis Glasson Obituary

Cletis Boyd Glasson, age 73, of Valliant, entered his heavenly home, Saturday, January 16, 2021, in Paris, TX.

Cletis was born, May 29, 1947 in Gorman, TX, to Roy Clinton Glasson and Mable Pauline (Hodge) Glasson.

He and Terry Jean Bray were united in marriage, December 29, 1971, at Lukfata Baptist Church, in Broken Bow, OK, they enjoyed 49 years together before his passing.

He graduated from De Leon High School, in 1965. He then entered the US Army in 1968, serving his country in Viet Nam as a radio operator, receiving the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. After the military, he worked for Chicago Bridge and Iron, building water towers in our area, where he met the love of his life, Terry. He was a deacon and member of the Valliant First Baptist Church, where he taught 5th and 6th grade boys for 30 years. He was a 32nd Degree Master Mason. He started his banking career in 1973, working for 1st Bank and Trust, in Broken Bow, in 1980, moving to 1st State Bank, in Valliant, in 1990, American State Bank, then in 2000, McCurtain County National Bank, in Valliant, where he retired in 2019. Cletis was also an accomplished auctioneer, holding Glasson and Son auctions all over the county.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mable Glasson; mother and father-in-law, Bob and Margaret Bray; one sister, Patsy Schwesig; brothers-in-law, Charlie Bray, E.L. Mitchell, and Tom Singleton; and special friend, Hershel Causey.

He leaves to cherish his wonderful memory, his wife, Terry Glasson, of the home; son, Clint Boyd Glasson and wife, Shauna, of Holly Creek; daughter, Tara Burris and husband, Ron, of Broken Bow; 4 grandchildren, Jaxie and Carter Glasson, and Taylee and Rylan Burris; as well as, numerous nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

A viewing for family and friends will be on Sunday, January 17, 2021, from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM, at the Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home.

A graveside celebration of life service will be at 2:00PM, Monday, January 18, 2021, at the Holly Creek Cemetery, with Bro. Mike Mings officiating.
