Clifford Cross Obituary

Clifford Eugene Cross of Cleveland, OK departed this life on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at the age of 84. Clifford was born April 10, 1939 in Pickens, OK to Joe and Johnie (Walker) Cross.

Clifford married Pearl Hardaway on November 24, 1956 in Hugo, OK, and to this union five children were born.

Clifford was affiliated with Pickens Assembly of God Church. He worked for the Forestry and was a watchman for fires at Signal Tower before moving to Tulsa to become a Welder. He traveled all over the US welding tanks. He was very proud to have helped build one of the testing sites for nuclear weapons on Amchitka Island in the Aleutian Island chain in southwest Alaska. He was a member of the Boiler maker Union. He was also Mason for over sixty-one years and a member of Shriners Hospital for children. He was a very good carpenter who built several homes. He was a honorary member of the Air Defense Team for the voluntary and faithful service in the Ground Observer Corps. For the United States Air Force. He enjoyed traveling especially to Tennessee and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We celebrate his life and have many fond memories that we will always cherish.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Johnie Walker Cross; wife, Pearl (Hardaway) Cross; daughter, Janice Rachelle Cross; sons, Forrest Neal Cross and Perry Lynn Cross; sisters, Florene Rose and Mayme Lee Griffin.

Clifford leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter, Gale Hubbard of Cleveland, OK; one son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Sandra Cross of Bethel, OK; daughter-in-law, Patricia Cross; nine grandchildren, Amber Bartley and husband, Jeremy, Wendy Marable and husband, Denis, Shawn Cross and wife, Nettie, Whitney McKay and husband, Brody, Dakota Hart and husband, Will, Jeremy Cross and wife, Miranda, Laura Mojica and husband, Myles, Joe Cross and wife, Jasmin, and Nicole Hill and husband, Kevin; twenty five great-grandchildren, Corbin, Creston, Tori, Kaden, Cam, Allie, Addie, Karsyn, Grayson, Kynzleigh, Love, Zalen, X’aven, Marley, Ty, Taylee, Harper, Gavin, Nicholas, Jayden, Mia, Amy, Maddison, Josiah and Elijah; and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.

Serving as pallbearers Corbin Bartley, Creston Bartley, Jeremy Cross, Joe Cross, Shawn Cross and Kaden Marable.

The family will receive friends from 6-8, Thursday evening at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home.

Funeral Services are set for 10:00 A.M., Friday, February 23, 2024 at Pickens Assembly of God Church, Pickens, OK with Rev. Archie Phillips and Rev. Jeff Mattox officiating. Interment to follow at County Line Cemetery, Pickens, OK.
