Obituary
Known to many as “C.J.” and other times simply as “Clyde Junior,” Clyde Julius Alford Jr. returned to rest in the Lord’s arms Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel, OK. He was born September 21, 1951, in McComb, MS, as the son of Clyde Alford Sr. and Hazel (Mingo) Alford.
Clyde grew up in Broken Bow, OK where he joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized in 1958 at the early age of seven years old. He attended Dunbar High School where he later transitioned to Broken Bow High School once segregation ended. He graduated from B.B.H.S. in 1968 as Valedictorian at the age of 16. Clyde chose to attend Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA. While attending Southern University, he had the rare opportunity to meet and spare with the one and only Bruce Lee. This ignited his passion for Karate. Later, Clyde transferred to OSU-Okmulgee where he met his future wife, Charlesetta Dixon.
His love for Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church was evident in his work as Treasurer/Trustee and his recent recommitment to the choir. He always made attending services a high priority, rain, sleet, or snow… he was going to be there.
He leaves his dedicated wife of 53 years, Charlesetta Alford, (daughter) Vivian Alford, and (son) Dedric Alford. Clyde was proceeded in death by (son) Ricky Alford, (sister) Laureen Francis, (mother) Hazel L. Alford, and (father) Clyde J. Alford Sr. Clyde will be remembered by friends, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren… Robert Alford, John Francis, Tiffani Bradford, Joseph (Bo) Mingo, Kennetra Wiggins, Julius Alford, DeUndraé Alford, Tiara Conley, John Conley, Traveno Carter, Travaris Carter, Travonta Carter, Tevin Dixon, Catana Dixon, Antonio Dixon, Michael Dixon, Anthony Dixon, and too many more to name.
Funeral Service will be October 8th at 1:00p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church Broken Bow, Granville Jett officiating.
Visitation will be Friday October 7,2022 from 1-4 at Bunch Singleton Funeral Home.
Graveside service will be Tuesday October 11,2022 at 1:00 p.m. at East Lawn Cemetery Boley, OK.
