Coy Treat Obituary

Coy Dewayne “Southpaw” Treat, age 78, of Broken Bow, passed from this life, July 19, 2021, in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.

He was born on September 13, 1942, to Loyd Treat and Bertha Irene (Dobbs) Treat in Porterville, California.

Wayne married Nina Jewell in the Oak Hill Community at his parent’s house with his father performing the ceremony, on December 30, 1961, they enjoyed 56 years together before her passing in 2018.

Wayne left a soon as the “I do’s” were said, catching a bus to Ft. Benning – Columbus, GA for boot camp. He served his country proudly stationed at Ft. Benning and then, Germany. He received an Honorable Discharge in February 1967.

He was known as Southpaw in the trucking world. He ate, slept, and breathed trucking. Wayne loved Kenworth trucks so much he thought they were the only truck made. Whether pushing a log or chip truck or driving long-haul with son-in-law, Rick Brown and R2K Trucking, ol’ Southpaw had diesel running through his veins and diesel smoke in his lungs. He had many memories of trucking and loved to share them with anyone.

Wayne was a simple man of few words. He could stop you in your tracks with one look. He was a hard worker, working daylight to dark, to provide for his loving wife and children. Wayne dearly loved his grandkids and greats and would spoil them every chance he got. He will be greatly missed by many family members and his memory will be cherished and live on through them forever. He was of the Church of Christ faith.

Wayne was preceded in death by his dear wife, Nina Treat; parents, Loyd and Bertha (Dobbs) Treat; both sets of grandparents; two sons, Jody and Tony Treat; and two brothers, Bill and Dan Treat.
