Craig Axton Obituary

Craig Axton passed from this life on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at the age of 60. He was born September 3, 1964 in Antlers, OK the son of Bernard and Dauthine (Hardaway) Axton.


Craig was affiliated with Pickens Assembly of God Church. He was a Battiest School Board Member for over twenty years and a Board Member of the Kiamichi Medical Clinic for several years. He grew up in Pickens, OK.  After working many years of his young adult life in the log woods, Craig bought the Stevens Gap Restaurant and ran a successful business for almost twenty years where he met and gained many lifelong friends. His dedication and hard work left a lasting impact on his family and community. Among the time spent with family and friends Craig had a true passion for flower gardening which he inherited from his mother. He loved collecting rocks he found interesting wherever he went.  When not gardening or hunting for rocks he enjoyed bringing old things to life through all sorts of furniture restoration projects. Craig always had a soft spot for those in need and willing to help them out in any way he could. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.


He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Dauthine Axton; brother-in-law, Robert Songer.


Craig leaves to cherish his memory son, Garrett Axton and wife, Courtney of Bethel, son, Terrance Axton and wife Ashlie of Bethel, daughter, Jessica Denton and husband, Gary of Smithville; grandchildren, Cierra Tully and husband, Trinity, Shaley Axton, Jayc Delozier, Brycen Axton, Asher Axton, Kristen Bruton and husband, Jeffrey,  Brooklynn Hunkapiller and husband, Jesse, Dacoda Denton and Hadlee Denton; great-grandson, Theo Bruton; sisters, Mary Lou Morris and husband, James, Sue Morris and husband, Gerald, Andrea Whiteside and husband, Danny, Bernie Songer and Kim Axton; brothers, Troy Axton, Tony Axton and wife Alicia; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.


Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, October 10, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel.


Funeral Services are set for 2:00 P.M., Friday at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Bethel, OK with Bro. David Hardin officiating.


Burial to follow at County Line Cemetery in Pickens, OK.
