Delmar Ray Harder, devoted father, loving husband, and passionate cattleman, passed peacefully on October 29, 2024, at the age of 89. He is at peace and reunited with his wife of 67 years, Mildred Harder. A lifelong community member of North McCurtain County, Delmar lived a life of devotion, hard work and faithfulness.
Born on June 18, 1935 in Battiest, Oklahoma. Delmar grew up with a love for the land and his family. He spent countless hours alongside his wife, Mildred, serving their beloved community. Together, they instilled values of faithfulness, hard work and integrity in their children, Debbie, Ricky, Keith, and Darren. His faithfulness made a difference for many and his legacy will live on.
He dedicated 38 years of hard work at Weyerhaeuser, retiring as Road Maintenance Supervisor. He loved his church, Pickens Assembly of God, where he served 50 years as Secretary and Treasurer.
Through the years his happy place was undoubtedly in the mountains with his cattle and mornings on the front porch of his home where he could be found with his loyal dog, by his side.
He is survived by his daughter, Debbie and Jerry Williams of Colleyville TX; sons, Ricky Harder of Broken Bow OK, Keith and Lois Harder of Pickens OK, Darren and Angela Harder of Battiest, OK grandchildren, Lesli and Tripp Bushnell of Colleyville, TX, Aaron and Megan Harder of Broken Bow, OK, Lauren and Evan Perkins of Austin TX, Hayden Harder and Sarah Phipps of Forest Grove, OK, Wren Harder of Battiest OK, Bethany and Clark Bixler of Waynoka OK, Tori Harder and Jerome Brown of Pickens, OK, Keynen and Kaysen Warren of Broken Bow, OK; ten great- grandchildren, Ella, Harper, Jaden, Pierce, Eli, Lilah, Isla, Tatum, Dally and Callahan; sisters, Ina Reid of Myrtle Beach, SC and Jean Rector of Arlington TX; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Calvin Chandler of Idabel, OK, Dixie Harder of Antlers, OK, Darrell and Terri Spradling of Broken Bow, OK, Don and Kay Spradling of Frisco TX, Walt and Veronica Spradling of Ardmore OK, Beverly and V O Stuart of Idabel, Joe and Beverly Spradling of Battiest OK, Sharlot Engler of Tulsa OK, and Peggy Treanor of Pocahantas AR. Numerous nieces, nephews, other family and a multitude of friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Harder, parents, Richard and Viola Harder, sisters, Louise Hampton, Marvalene Chandler, brothers, Jerry Harder and Larry Norman Harder.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M., Friday, November 1, 2024 at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel.
A celebration of his life will be held on November 2, 2024, at the Pickens Assembly of God Church, where all are welcome to join us in remembering Delmar.
