Dennis Harris Obituary

Dennis Allen Harris was born on May 13, 1975 to Ronald and Linda Harris in North Platte, Nebraska.  The family re-located to Moore Oklahoma in 1980 where Dennis attended school and church at Moore First Church of God and made several lifelong friends.  Later Dennis and family moved to Cheyenne Wyoming where he attended Cheyenne East High School.  Dennis’ love for the outdoors grew even more strong while in Wyoming and he spent all his free time hunting and fishing.  Dennis also enjoyed working on vehicles and fixing anything he could get his hands on.

In 1999 Dennis became the proud father of twin daughters.  He and his family relocated to Buffalo Wyoming where he worked as a foreman at Paradise Guest Ranch until he started his own outfitting and taxidermy business, Old West Adventures.  He made many friends, memories and gained some outrageous stories to tell through his years in business.

In 2014 Dennis moved back to Oklahoma and resided in McCurtain County where he continued to enjoy the outdoors, hunting camps and fishing the lakes and ponds nearby.  Dennis also discovered that he loved to spend time in Mexico and the scenery offered by more wide open space.  He began guiding fisherman on Broken Bow Lake and became quite an expert on catching Walleye and Crappie.  In his free time Dennis continued to do some taxidermy work, helped out his local friends with hay or whatever was necessary, and in his free time he scouted out new fishing spots to take clients.  Dennis was handy with many things, was a skilled craftsman, and was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed.

Dennis was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Merle and Edna Christofferson of Sidney, Nebraska and his paternal grandparents, Robert and Marilyn Harris, one uncle, Larry Harris.  Dennis is survived by his two daughters of Wyoming, his parents Ron Harris of North Platte, Nebraska and Linda Jenkins of Chickasha Oklahoma, a sister and brother in law Rhonda and Dusty Stewart of Blanchard; and a brother Dustin Harris of Pennsylvania.  He leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will dearly miss his physical presence: Kayla Hageman Vankirk, Kassidy Vankirk, Kristopher Stewart, Colt Stewart, Kyleigh Stewart, Karter Stewart of Blanchard; Landen Replogle, Kamden Harris, Rylan Harris of Pennsylvania, and Gwendolyn Lane of Cheyenne, Wyoming.  Dennis is survived by aunts and uncles:  Dale and Ruth Christofferson, Neil and Susan Christofferson, Carol Franzen, Nancy and John Rice, Ed and Eleanor Roth, Phil and Beverly Harris, Elaine Zobel, Mark and Debbie Harris, Karen Harris and many cousins.

Dennis entered his heavenly home on June 30, 2021 and although we’ll miss him, we know that he has eternal peace and happiness.

A service for family and friends honoring Dennis’ life will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, July 9, 2021 at the Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.
