Donnie Cleo (Tomlinson) Whisenhunt Obituary

Donnie Cleo (Tomlinson) Whisenhunt, 96, of Glover OK passed away March 24, 2025 after a short stay at Memorial Heights Nursing Center in Idabel OK.  She was born February 13,1929 in Red Oak OK, the seventh of eight children and the youngest daughter of William and Serena (Hubble) Tomlinson.  Donnie was the last surviving member of her birth family.

When she was a young girl in grade school, her family moved to live on the west coast in California and Arizona.  Later they returned to southeast Oklahoma where she met her husband. She loved to ride horses, her favorite being her horse Frosty.  She also liked country music  and playing her guitar.  Donnie and J. D. Whisenhunt were married on October 26,1949 in De Queen AR.  They raised three children and shared sixty-five years together.  Her highest priorities were her family and being a homemaker.  Donnie loved to travel and after  J. D. retired from his career after 35 years with Dierks Forests Inc. and the Weyerhaeuser company, they enjoyed traveling the country in their RV’s site seeing, visiting siblings, attending Tomlinson and Whisenhunt family reunions, hosting family holiday get-togethers, and going to country & gospel music shows & festivals.  She and J. D. also ran their farming business together from 1970 – 2000, with Donnie managing the finances and scheduling and J. D. managing the physical & contract operations while still holding his fulltime job with the Weyerhaeuser Company.  Donnie’s hobbies included her family albums and genealogy, family heirlooms and antiquing, reading all kinds of literature, her flowers and fruit trees, and most of all bragging-on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Donnie served her community by pitching-in to ready the Glover School for the new school year each fall as well as chaperoning school field trips for over a decade while her husband served on the school board.  She also served as a census-taker for McCurtain County.
