Edward Merz, passed away on February 14, 2026, in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Born on November 16, 1948, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Edward was the owner and operator of E&J Pest Control. His work ethic and integrity in business were mirrored by his commitment to his family and his community. Edward's involvement with the Idabel and Goodwater Masonic Lodge, where he was a 32-degree Mason, and his active participation as a Shriner, showcased his dedication to service and fellowship. He was a family man, always ensuring that the needs of others were met before his own. His love for his family was evident in the time spent at his lake house, where memories were made. He loved traveling the country with his family.
Edward is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Thelma (Gohn) Merz, his stepmother Jean Merz, his brother Harry Merz, and his daughter, Joni Brackman.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of thirty-two years, Jane Merz of the home; his son, Mathew Merz of Broken Bow, and daughter Susan Hudson of Ohio; his grandchildren, Abbie and Liam Brackman and Keona Merz; a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 27, 2026 from 5-7 PM at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is set for 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Bow, OK.
