Gary Lee Lane Obituary

Gary Lee Lane, 70, of Hochatown, OK passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025, in Texarkana, TX. Born on January 22, 1955, in Haskell, TX, to parents, Jack and Kathleen (Crawford) Lane.

On September 23, 1979, Gary married the love of his life, Theresa Gail Daw at the Botanical Gardens in Ft. Worth, TX.

A man of deep faith, Gary was of the Christian Faith and shared his love of God. After graduating from Burleson High School while working construction, he continued to get his BA at TCU in Ranch Management then assisted as Ranch Manager of the 4Duce Ranch which was one of the top 5 Santa Gertrudis ranches in the nearby country while also managing his small personal ranch near Woodland, TX and pursued his passion for raising cattle. This is also where he built the home where he and his wife Terrie would raise their family.

Gary was a true Renaissance man. Cowboy, businessman, artist, family man, lover of the road, and always a friend to a stranger.

Gary’s artistic talents stretched from a small drawing or sculpture to the design and remodeling of homes. He combined his business knowledge with cattle and retail. His sales ability and artistry were evident in Boot Hill Western Store in Haskell, Tx and Canton’s First Monday where he specialized in shaping and designing cowboy hats. This included traveling with road shows across the US, from Fort Worth Stock Show/Rodeo to Cheyenne Wyoming Western Days.

Gary's family was the center of his world. He took every opportunity to show his love and support, whether through shared activities or simply keeping the pool table full of snacks for the kids. His passion for the open road was fulfilled through riding his Harley, and as a member of the KIB Motorcycle Club, he shared many adventures from Key West FL to Sturgis, SD with fellow enthusiasts.

In 2016, he combined his love for fishing and community by opening the Hooker Bait Shop in Hochatown, which quickly became a beloved local establishment and Firewood provider.

He is preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Montana Wright and cousin, Les Lane.

Gary is survived by his wife, Theresa Lane of Hochatown; his children, Jon Lane and Alicia Wright of Hugo, OK, and Stacey Rowan of Hochatown; brother David Lane of Abilene, TX and sister, Loretta Brister of Azle, TX; grandchildren, Blake Jackson, Jack Lane, Shaylee Rowan, Destiny Henslee, and Briar Shomo; a host of other relatives and a multitude of friends.
