Gladys “Judy” Mays, age 84, of Houston, TX, formerly of Broken Bow, OK passed from this life July 19, 2021, in Noble, Oklahoma, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on January 10, 1937, to Ed Jewell and Gladys Haney Jewell, in McAlester, Oklahoma.
Judy was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was kind and loving, never having a bad word to say about anyone. Judy would help anyone who needed it and taught her children to be as kind and thoughtful as she was. There was nothing mean spirited, bad, or hateful about her. The family never knew of a person who didn’t love her after meeting her. She was a member of the New Day Church in Houston, TX. She was a mail carrier for 11 years and befriended many of those on her route. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Delos Mays; parents, Ed and Gladys Jewell; daughter, Elizabeth Annette; three brothers, William “Tex”, Eugene “Frog”, and PJ “Pete” Jewell; three sisters, Bessie Fetter, Ganie Hadley, and Minnie “Pat” Steve.
She is survived by her children, Sherry Dzvirko and husband, Dan, of Noble, OK, Susan Ball and husband, Leonard, of Houston, TX, Chris Kuhrt, of Houston, TX, Jerry Ragan and wife, Patty, of Purcellville, VA, Charli Mondragon and husband, Ernie, of Alamosa, CO; and Brooke Mays, of Broken Bow, OK; sister, Lorene Schumacher; 22 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
A Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Friday, July 23, 2021, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, at the Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 24, 2021, at the Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home – Chapel, with Bro. Jimmy Jeter officiating. Interment will follow at the Holly Creek Cemetery.
