Gladys "Ruthie" Elrod, a lifelong resident of Broken Bow, OK, passed away on November 4, 2025, in Tulsa, OK, at the age of 74. Born on August 20, 1951, to Dexter and Laura Bell (Robey) Gamble, Ruthie was a beacon of kindness and joy to all who knew her.
Ruthie was a proud 1970 graduate of Broken Bow High School, where she formed many lasting friendships and developed her love for the arts. She had a creative spirit, which found expression in her beautiful paintings, intricate crocheting projects, and the challenging puzzles she delighted in completing. One of Ruthie's most cherished annual traditions was making Christmas candy. Her delicious treats were eagerly anticipated by friends and family alike, and they were just one of the many ways she spread her love.
Ruthie was preceded in death by her loving parents, Dexter and Laura Bell Gamble, and her siblings, Marvin Lee Gamble, Dexter Newton Gamble, Jr., David Lynn Gamble, Janice Sue Patton, Geneva Kay Johnson, and Oleta Mae Pierce. She was also predeceased by her sister-in-law, Bobbie Gamble.
She is survived by her brothers, Buddy Gamble, Jerry & Betty Gamble of Broken Bow, and Mike & Vickie Gamble of Idabel. Her sisters, Pat and Robert Peavy of Broken Bow, Charlotte "Charlie" and Tommy Riggs of Golden, Valerie & Gene Perkins of Idabel, and Faye & Sherman Dixson of Broken Bow; Ruthie's nieces and nephews, whom she adored as her own children and played a significant role in raising, will dearly miss her along with a multitude of friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Friday evening at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Services are set for 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Victory Life Church, Broken Bow, OK with Pastor Jimmy Jeter and Coy Loving officiating. Interment to follow at Broken Bow Cemetery, Broken Bow, OK.
