Glenda Faye Hammonds Obituary

Fay Hammonds, passed away on January 31, 2025, at the age of 76 in Idabel, OK. Born June 1, 1948 to parents, Roscoe Chester and Ruby Lee Routh in Oak Hill Community.


 Fay was a devoted mother and grandmother, known affectionately as Memaw to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always had an open ear for the ones she loved. Her kindness extended beyond her family.


Fay was an avid reader and enjoyed watching Hallmark movies. In her earlier years, she enjoyed making ceramics and crafting doll clothes for her nieces. She cherished discussing current events with her family and friends, always keeping lively conversations at the heart of any gathering. Fay’s warm personality and openness made her a friend to many, as she never met a stranger. She was a member of Glorybound Independent Church in Garvin, OK.


She is preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe and Ruby Routh; paternal grandparents, Earl and Hattie Routh and maternal grandparents, Ovie and Charlie Pollard; father of her children, Tillman Hammonds; sons, Eugene and Roger Hammonds; brothers, Danny and Rusty Routh; sister, Linda Toon; great-grandchildren, Hadasa Gammon and Aden Scoles.


Fay leaves to cherish her memory her children, Shelly and B.J. Harkey of Garvin, Amy and Jake McDonald of Idabel; brothers, Neal Routh of Broken Bow and Roger and Veda Routh of Golden Community; sisters, Sandy and Les Lesley, Jimmie and Jr. Rodgers all of Broken Bow, Gwen Routh of Smithville; grandchildren, Joshua Hammonds of Idabel, Jessica McCutcheon of McAlester, Anna Scoles of Broken Bow, Cody Hammonds of Valliant, Skyler Gammon of Broken Bow, Tanner Harkey of Durant, Riley Harkey of OKC, OK, Cameron, Cannon and Conner Hammonds of Idabel, Kalie LeForce of Garvin, Kenzi McDonald of Idabel, Cameron McDonald of Wright City and Kyson McDonald of Broken Bow; twenty-four great-grandchildren; very special great-grandson, Briar Harkey; one great-great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and a multitude of friends.


Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Friday, February 7, 2025 at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel.


Funeral Services are set for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jimmy Westbrook officiating. Interment to follow at Redland Cemetery.
