Jack "Doug" Hutchison Obituary

Jack Douglas Hutchison, Sr. (Doug) passed from this life May 10, 2023 at the age of 77.   He was born February 2, 1946 in Broken Bow, where he lived his younger years until venturing out into the world.  After his military service in the Navy, Jack began his career in the oilfield industry that took him from West Texas to Saudi Arabia, before returning to Lindsay, Oklahoma.  He was a very proud “Sport’s Dad”, watching his son Jack Douglas, Jr. (Little Doug) excel as an athlete while attending Lindsay Public School.  In June of 1983, Little Doug passed away and Jack soon after returned home to Broken Bow.

Jack and Jan Gray were united in marriage on March 4, 2005 in De Queen, Arkansas and they shared 18 wonderful years together, as a couple, parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents.  Named after his mother’s favorite brother, it was fun watching Jan learn when to call him” Jack” and when to call him “Doug”, because to the Hutchison family he was affectionately known as Doug.  Family was the most important thing to Jack, and he was so very proud to be a Dad and Papa.  Jack shared a special relationship with his grandson Jayden, supporting him in any endeavor he wanted to achieve.  He also loved being a big brother to his siblings, Calvin, Debbie, and Kelly, giving them advice on life’s lessons, even when they didn’t want to hear it (a trait he inherited from his mom).

An avid outdoorsman, Jack loved to fish and hunt with his Grandson Jayden and his Dad.  He loved OU Sooner football and going to the games with Jan, his brother Calvin, and his best friend T Lloyd Wilson.  He always looked forward to the OU-Texas game with his sister-in-law DeDe and her husband Bryan.  Jack was also an avid golfer, competing in tournaments at Cedar Creek Golf Course.  He loved golf so much that he mowed the course for free golf!  In his retirement he enjoyed contributing to his community from Broken Bow to Hochatown.  Jack and Jan attended Victory Life Church where he was a hit as “Uncle Doug” to the kids.

Jack had a huge heart, with a kindness for everyone and his presence will be greatly missed.  He was preceded in death by his son, Jack Douglas Hutchison, Jr. (Little Doug); his mother, Verna Everett; his grandmother, Eva Hutchison; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jerry and Lou Gray; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Jan Hutchison; daughters, Nisa Birge and Susan Billy; father, Billy Everett; siblings, Calvin Middlebrook, Debra Everett and Kelly Everett; grandchildren, Taylor Birge, Shaylee (Cheyenne) Terry, Haylee (Timothy) McCoy, Laikan Billy and Jayden Barrick; great-grandchildren, Trenady, Jade, Bryson, Makynah, Shug, Kamdon, Kenzly, Jacelynn, Dakota, Journee, Serenady, and Jewell; sister-in-law, DeDe Blake (Bryan); brother-in-law, Danny Gray (Charla) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives including David Hutchison and friends.

Jack was also preceded in death by the mother of his son, Brenda Hutchison and son Eddie Ray Evans.  He is also survived by their children, Kenny Evans, Beverly Swann and their families.

**Visitation will be held Monday, May 15, 2023 from 6pm to 8pm at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home.  A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 2pm at Victory Life Church, with his cousin, Pastor Jimmy Jeter, officiating.  Interment will follow at Hochatown Cemetery.
