James Earl Mitchell departed this life to be with his wife Carolyn and his Savior on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. He met his love while working at his gas station in 1964. His first words to her were “Hi Sugar”. He said goodbye to her in September and could not wait any longer to go be with her. Their love story is family legend. They were married and in love fifty-five years.
Hard work was an integral part of his life. He began working as a child picking cotton in the cotton fields. Through his example and leadership, he taught many how to give everything you have in everything you do, and the value and importance of not only a hard day’s work but completing that work with honesty and perfection.
He loved completely and his personality was bigger than life. Anyone who knew him would never forget him because of the impact he left on so many people.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Bessie Mitchell; his loving wife, Carolyn Mitchell; one brother, Randy Mitchell; one sister, Sharon Owens.
James leaves to cherish his life his children, Cindy Swift and husband, Josh of Golden, Shari Magar and husband, Cam of Broken Bow, Jacy Couture and husband, Matt all of Broken Bow; grandchildren, Coltan Judd and husband Coltland, Cutter Swift, Jake Magar, Mitchell Magar, Luke Magar, Mattie and Paislee Coulture. sisters, Arlene Jones of DeQueen, AR, Hellen Milam of Horatio, AR, Kirma Kohler of Ukiah, CA and Glenda Tinkes of Ben Lomond, AR.
A Graveside Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Watson Memorial Cemetery, Oak Hill Community with James Judd officiating.
