James Daniel “Dan” Allensworth, 81, of Asher, OK, passed away on Friday, October 11th, 2024, with his son, Jason, and daughter, Angie, by his side.

 Dan was born on September 20th, 1943, to James H. Allensworth and Llowman (Cooper) Kittrell in Rufe, OK.

Dan joined the Army Reserve in 1960 at age 17, and soon thereafter obtained his GED. Early in his career, Dan worked in logging and trucking. He started his own business, Allensworth Trucking, in 1989, which still thrives today. Dan retired in 2001, built a small cabin in Rufe, OK, and spent his time visiting and reminiscing with his family and old friends.

 Dan, ‘Boone’ as he was often called was definitely one-of-a-kind. He believed in living life to the fullest, saying exactly what was on his mind, working hard, keeping his word, and helping his neighbors. He loved the land and throughout his life had horses, cattle, chickens, guineas, dogs, cats, turkeys, and anything else that would wander up on the properties. His reasoning in life was simple: don’t buy it unless you have the cash to buy it, do what you say you’re gonna do, be on time (which means 10 minutes early), and do what is right.

Dan was predeceased by his father, James H. Allensworth and mother, Lloyman (Cooper) Kittrell, three brothers, Dewayne Allensworth, Dale Allensworth, and Jimmy Allensworth, and a sister Arvella Terrel.

 Dan is survived by his children, Angie (Allensworth) Young, Jason Allensworth, Cynthia Tyler, Frank James (Sam) Allensworth, grandchildren Mason Allensworth, Harlie Allensworth, and many more, friends and loved ones.

Visitation set for Thursday, October 24, 2024, 6-8 P.M., at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel 

Graveside Services will be held at Sobol Cemetery on October 25th at 10:00 am.
