James Earl Ashford, 82, of Broken Bow, OK passed away Sunday, July 30, 2023. He was born July 15, 1941 in Broken Bow, OK to parents, Bob and Lorene (McConnell) Ashford.

James was an outdoorsman, an avid bow hunter, wining several tournaments. He loved his Mules and thoroughly enjoyed spending time in Colorado. James owned and operated Ashford Contracting and served customers in McCurtain County for many years and was voted number one back hole operator of the year. Most of all he loved his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all that were privileged to know him.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Ashford; parents, Bob and Lorene Ashford; brother, John Ashford; stepson, Charlie Cunningham.

James is survived by his children, Rose and Dominik Huhn of Arlington, TN, Anna Egelfeld of Tampa Bay, FL, Virginia Thompson of Broken Bow, Elaine and Melvin Luna of Valliant, Susie and Boyd Roath of Wright City; brother, Joe Ashford of Dierks, AR; bonus daughter, Lorrie Kaye Meddock Bell; ten grandchildren; special friends, Dan Malone and Bob Stuart.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Thursday evening at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 4th at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Bow, OK.
