James O. Hopson passed from this life Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the age of 92. He was born October 7, 1930 in Melrose, New Mexico the son of Roy H. Hopson and Marty (Teeter) Hopson.
James married Bennie Brooks on May 18, 1951 in DeQueen, AR and they shared seventy-two years together, their marriage was blessed with seven children.
James was many things and helped anyone he could throughout his life. He truly truly was a loving husband, father, grandpa and great grandpa. He was a timberman, a cattleman, a fisherman, a hunter and a storyteller (every chance he got). James was active in his community. In earlier years he served as a school board member and was active in the Youth Little League Baseball Program and an avid supporter of the Eagles Sport Program. In later years he supported all of his grandchildren in their sports. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Roy H. Hopson; mother, Mary (Teeter) Williams; infant daughter, Judy Hopson; brother, Warren Williams.
James leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Bennie Hopson of the home; children, Annette and Ivan Toon of Watson, Randy and Gail Hopson of Eagletown, Keith and Susie Hopson of Eagletown, Joyce Hopson and Mike Stone of Broken Bow, Bruce and Gail Hopson of Eagletown, Kevin and Karen Hopson of Broken Bow; twenty-three grandchildren, forty-nine great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alla Fae Webb of Watson and Alta Mae (Honey) Scott of Linchburg, VA; numerous nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home.
Funeral Services are set for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel with Joe Cook officiating. Interment to follow at Eagletown Cemetery.
