Longtime Hochatown resident, Jeanette Voirin, passed away at McCurtain Memorial Hospital on February 3, 2021 at the age of 87.
The daughter of Wallace Newton and Vallie H. (Howell) Stults, Jeanette was born on March 12, 1933 in Grapevine, TX. On December 31, 1955, Jeanette married the love of her life Larry Voirin. They spent 65 years together. Jeanette began her career with RC Can Company and retired in the early 70’s. After retiring from there, Jeanette and Larry relocated to Hochatown, OK where they operated Rocky Top BBQ and started working at Beavers Bend State Park. Her career at the park spanned two decades, being named as State of Oklahoma's employee of the year. She retired in the early 90's.
Everyone who knew Jeanette loved her and she loved them. She was the matriarch of the family and her family was everything to her. Coming from a close knit family, her relationship with her sisters and brothers was something she cherished. Friday evenings she might have been found at the kitchen table playing a friendly game of poker.
Jeanette's door was always open and her house full of family and friends. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and telling anyone who would listen all about them.
She leaves her beloved husband, Larry Voirin; one son, Bruce Voirin and partner, Sukesh Shenoy; daughter-in-law, Janet Voirin; six grandchildren, Israel Voirin and his wife, Brandy Voirin, Melody Voirin and her husband, Pedro Barcenas, Aysia Voirin, Joshua Voirin, Jacob Voirin and Jesse Voirin; six great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Hannah, Ty, Eric, Addison and Alayna; beloved sister and caretaker Joyce Gibbs; sister, Kathey Anderson, brothers, Joe, Larry and Rudy Stults; special family friend, Steve “Charlie” Robinson; many nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
A memorial service will be held for Jeanette at a later time.
