Jo Anna Cupit Obituary

Jo Anna Cupit, 71, of Broken Bow passed from this life on June 29, 2020 at home surrounded by her family, after a brave battle with cancer.

She was born on June 27, 1949 in Idabel, OK to Haskell Moseley and Reba Nette (Lites) Finley. Jo loved the Lord and she was the heart and soul of her family. She was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Jo and Melvin celebrated 50 years of marriage in January. Melvin was the love her life. They ran an auto-repair garage together for over 40 years. They were avid bowlers and were members of the bowling league in DeQueen, AR and traveled to tournaments all over the country.

Jo loved to bake and cook. She made over 10 pies from scratch for each Thanksgiving and Christmas family gathering. She made sure that everyone always had their favorite. Jo delivered holiday treat baskets every year with homemade cookies and candies to their friends at the parts stores. Her joy in life came from making others happy. She was selfless and always put others first. She was the embodiment of happiness, kindness, compassion and pure sweetness. Each one of us were blessed to know her and were better because of her. She was a ray of sunshine and our world is infinitely brighter because of her.

Jo enjoyed playing Bunco, games with her family and friends and going to the casino to play the penny machine. Her grandkids and great-grandkids were her greatest joy. She kept pictures of them on her phone so that she could show them off every chance she got.

Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Haskell Moseley and Reba Nette (Lites) Finley.

Jo is survived by the love her life, Melvin Cupit, of Broken Bow; daughter and son-in-law, Shanna and Michael Taylor of Broken Bow; daughter and son-in-law, Melva and Clay Palmer of Lee’s Summit, MO; son and daughter-in-law,  Jimmy and Shelly Cupit of Valliant; grandchildren, Kaylie and Jose Perez of Carrollton, TX; Brendon Cupit of Valliant;  Morgan and Micah Johnston of Yukon, OK; Carson and Case Palmer of Lee’s Summit, MO; Keaton Taylor of Broken Bow; great-grandchildren, Mason and Evelyn Perez.

Jo is also survived by her sisters and brother, Lynn Coons, Nita Lindly-Campbell, Sherry Finley, Norma Jo Christopher and Bob Finley along with many nieces and nephews and a host of other friends and relatives.

In lieu of flowers, Jo wanted donations made to the ARK - Animal Rescue and Kare of McCurtain County. Donations can be sent to the ARK or dropped off at Wright Ideas Flowers and Sweet Shoppe.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, from 6-8 PM, at Bunch- Singleton Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at 10 AM, at Victory Life Church in Broken Bow. Lunch will be served immediately after the service and the graveside service will be at 1 PM at Broken Bow Cemetery.

Since this is a Celebration of Life, it is a casual setting to visit and share stories. She would want everyone to be comfortable as she hated to wear heels because they hurt her toes.
