John Barnes, 67, of Broken Bow passed away on April 6, 2025. Born on September 26, 1957, in Casa Grande, AZ, to parents, Jessie and Shirley (Halbert) Barnes.0
John and Louise Tatum were married on Valentine's Day in 1980 in Clarksville, TX, and shared forty-five years of marriage.
John was a member of the Golden Church of Christ in Golden, OK. A man of many talents, John's passion for working on vehicles was evident throughout his career. He dedicated twelve years as a millwright at KCS Lumber Co, over two decades as a mechanic at SETCO, and before retiring, he spent eight years as a diesel mechanic at Tyson Foods. John enjoyed spending quality time with his children, grandchildren and special nephew, Tony, he took the pleasure of spoiling his cats. Whether it was lending a hand at work or sharing a moment with his family, he was always ready to give of himself.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Shirley (Halbert) Barnes; son, Bo Barnes; sister, Charlene (Barnes) Vail; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ben and Mary Tatum; brothers-in-law, Loyd Tatum and Jimmy Tatum.
John is survived by his loving wife, Louise Barnes of the home; his children, Jason Barnes of Broken Bow, Ace Barnes and wife Wendy of Idabel, Dorina and Craig Bryant of Broken Bow; bonus son, Merle Tatum. He was a proud grandfather to Keygan, Cammie, Gavin and Bella Barnes, Bravin and Jera Noah, Tatum Barnes, Katelynn, Haven and Gage Smith, Marina, Ema, Jax, Emmitt, and Cooper Bryant; his siblings Judy West of Idabel, Gene and Sharon Barnes of Broken Bow, Michelle Phillips of Pensacola, FL, Tim and Alice Barnes of TX, Chris and Laura Barnes of Pahrump, NV; sister-in-law, Rayetta Fuller and husband, Mike of Rufe; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will forever treasure his memory.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Wednesday evening at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel.
Graveside Services are set for 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Broken Bow Cemetery, Broken Bow, OK with a speaker from Golden Church of Christ officiating.
