Jonnye "Jera`" McCary, passed away on August 3, 2025, in Idabel, Oklahoma, at the age of 77. Born on June 30, 1948, in Tulare, California, the son of Betty Jo Green and John McCary.

Jera's work ethic was unparalleled, nurtured from his youth as he attended Green Chapel Church in Herndon. He was a man of the land, raising and baling hay for many years, His passion for life was evident in his hobbies. In the late '90s, Jera found excitement in drag track racing, in his younger years, he enjoyed riding and breaking horses. Even in his quieter moments, Jera found joy in simple pleasures. He was often found feeding the birds and squirrels, his love for old country music and engaging with friends on Facebook were sources of comfort and companionship. These interests, combined with his love for his family, painted the portrait of a man deeply rooted in the things that matter most.

Jera was preceded in death by his father, John McCary, his grandparents, Lee and Merle (Slabaugh) Green, his great-granddaughter, Bria' McCary, and his sister, JoAnn McCary-Pruitt.

He leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Debbie McCary of the home; his mother, Betty Jennings of Wright City; his children, Keri Emery of Dallas, TX, Kam McCary Bunn and husband Michael of Holly Creek, OK, and Keenan C. McCary and wife Sara of Idabel, OK; his brother, Tommy McCary of Wright City, OK, sisters, Micki Atwood & Kendall of Powderly, TX, and Linda Turner of Stevensville, TX, his grandchildren, Keenan J., Roy, Kyle, Kaleb, Heaven, and Shawn, and great-grandchildren, Airianna, Keenai, Saelor, Keenly, Noah, Riverlynn, and Brixton. A host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home.

Funeral Services are set for 2:00 PM, Friday, August 8, 2025 at Green Chapel Assembly of God Church, Herndon, OK with Pastor Lyn Gaskey officiating. Interment to follow at Slater Memorial Cemetery, Wright City, OK.
