Lane Elrod left this world too soon on May 13, 2025, in Broken Bow, Oklahoma at the age of 22. Born February 9, 2003, in DeQueen, Arkansas.


A graduate of Battiest High School, Lane was a multi-talented athlete who excelled at baseball, basketball, track and cross country. His dedication and talent in track and cross country earned him scholarships, a testament to his hard work and perseverance. Lane was a member of Mt. Herman Holiness Church in Mt. Herman, OK.


Lane loved the outdoors. He loved to fish, kayak, and go hunting. Riding four-wheelers, camping, and spending time at the lake were some of his favorite ways to enjoy the beauty of nature. Most of all, Lane cherished the moments he spent with his family and friends, creating memories that they will hold onto forever.


Preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James Elrod, Sr. and Alice Marie Elrod; maternal grandparents, Marlyn Flowers and Dale Mize; and his uncle, Michael Flowers.


 He is survived by his devoted parents, Julia and Michael "Bud" Hunt of the home; his loving siblings, Joshua Elrod, Ava Jo, and Judson Hunt of the home; Dallas Elrod of Broken Bow, OK; and Peyton Parsons of Idabel, OK. His great-grandmother, Mildred Hunt of the home, along with great-grandparents, Jerry and Grace Wiley of Mt. Herman, OK; grandmother, Paula Wiley of Sherwood, OK; grandparents, Kenneth and Gayle Acklen of Broken Bow, OK; biological parents, James Henry Elrod, III, of TX, Maranda and Bryan Bargas of Locksburg, AR, will forever cherish the time they had with him. His aunts and uncles, Kevan Hunt, Jose Carrillo, Preston Jones, Marla and Delbert Reynolds, John Elrod, Tommy Wilson, George and Beverly Vance, Teresa and Ben Ashby, Van and Sarah Vance, and Kevin Vance, along with Oscar Ray Vance, have all been touched by Lane’s kind spirit. His special cousins, Carson Gills, Jayson Gills, Trey Vance, Avery, Barrick, Caden Schaffer, and Connor Schaffer, and his dear friends, Brady Billingsley and Brayden Stovall, will miss his companionship and laughter. Lane’s presence will also be profoundly missed by numerous other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.


Visitation will be held 6-8 P.M., Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel Broken Bow, OK.


Funeral Services are set for 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Battiest High School Gymnasium, Battiest, OK. Interment to follow at Sherwood Cemetery, Sherwood, OK.
