Longtime Hochatown resident, Larry Voirin, passed away in Austin Texas on October 17, 2021 at the age of 89.
The son of Chester and Estelle Voirin, Larry Hugh Voirin was born on November 2, 1931 in Irving, TX. A proud veteran, Larry joined the army out of high school and served in the Korean war. On December 31, 1955, Larry married the love of his life, Jeanette Voirin. They spent 65 years together. Their love will span eternity as Larry now reunited with his beloved wife, Jeanette in Heaven. Larry and Jeanette relocated to Hochatown, OK where they operated Rocky Top BBQ and made their home in Beaver's Bend Village.
Larry never met a stranger, he would happily welcome everyone into his home. People just driving by would stop and say hi and often be invited to play a friendly game of cribbage. Retiring early, he spent his summers with his grandchildren, one of his greatest joys in life. They would spend their days on the lake fishing, learning to drive, picking blackberries, and making wild plum and blackberry jam. Larry loved to cook and passed this love down to his son and grandchildren. Family and friends enjoyed his briskets, fried fish, cinnamon rolls and zucchini breads as they gathered at Larry and Jeanette's home.
He leaves his son Bruce Voirin and partner Sukesh Shenoy, daughter-in-law, Janet Voirin, six grandchildren, Melody Voirin and her husband, Pedro Barcenas, Israel Voirin and his wife, Brandy Voirin, Aysia Voirin, Joshua Voirin, Jacob Voirin and Jesse Voirin; Six great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Hannah, Ty, Eric, Addison and Alayna; beloved sister and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
A memorial service will be held for Larry at a later time.
