Lawrance Wayne “Speedy” Bruce, 71, was born November 16, 1949, in DeQueen, Arkansas to James and Emma Bruce. On January 4th, 2021 he gained his heavenly wings.
On June 29th, 1974, in Pickens, OK, he married the love of his life, Marilyn Holmes, they enjoyed 46 years together.
Wayne lived his entire life in Pickens, leaving only to work out of town. He absolutely loved to hunt and fish and no one ever had a better time telling a good story about those “adventures” than Speedy! He never got tired of telling those coon hunting stories, as well as any others he could think of. Just when he thought hunting and fishing couldn’t be more fun, along came those grand and great grand kids! In the last few years, his greatest joy came from taking those grandkids deer hunting! He truly had the most fun, hunting, fishing, telling tall tales, and playing with the grandkids. He also had an extremely special and loving relationship with his mother and father-in-law, Vernon and Christine Holmes, whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Emma Bruce; one brother-in-law, Bob Munnerlyn.
Wayne leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Marilyn; daughter, Robin Bruce and husband, Tim; son, Brad Bruce and wife, Mary Beth; Four grandchildren, Chelsea Foster and husband, JR, Stormy Foster and wife, Kaitlyn, and Keagan and Karter Bruce; two great-grandchildren, Jasper and Evrett Foster; brother, Frank Bruce and wife, Brenda; sisters, Shirley Munnerlyn and Shjan Green and husband, Marty; as well as, a host of other family and friends.
