Lawrence Battiest, 79, of Broken Bow, passed away on July 9, 2020 at Paris Regional Medical Center in Paris, TX.
One of six children, Lawrence was born on March 3, 1941 to Wille and Kissie (Walls) Battiest. He attended Broken Bow public Schools. After completing school, Lawrence served the US Army as a paratrooper during Vietnam. After returning home, he started working as a log cutter in the timber industry.
Lawrence enjoyed playing gospel music on his guitar, playing dominoes and pool, and making memories with his family. He was a member of Myrtlewood Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wille and Kissie Battiest; five siblings, Thomas, Willie, Leon, Lee and Ethel; Niece Stormi Gayle Battiest, two nephews, Alex Battiest and Stoney Battiest.
Lawrence leaves to cherish his memory his nephews, Kenneth Battiest and wife, Kimberly of Broken Bow, Ricky Lewis and wife Mary, of Queen City, TX; nieces, Jessie Mackey and husband, Cameron of Ada, OK, Kriss Brandy and husband, Raymond of Broken Bow, Laura Monday and husband, Keith of Palmer, AK, Barry McKinney, Randy McKinney; great nephews and nieces, Matthew Brandy, Lucas Battiest, Logan Lewis, Girlie Battiest, Autumn Battiest, Kalli Battiest, Bryana Brandy, Michaela Mackey, Alex Mackey, Aubrey Mackey and Mia Mackey; great, great nephew and nieces, Brodee Currence, Nataleigh Story and Mahayla Brandy; numerous other relatives and friends.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at 10 a.m. at the Myrtlewood Cemetery, Broken Bow, OK with Rev. Stanley Shomo officiating.
