Mark O'Neal Baker Obituary

Mark O'Neal Baker, age 42, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, passed away on June 7, 2026. He was born on August 3, 1983, in Talihina, Oklahoma the son of Billy Dean Baker and Nawatha (Franklin) Baker.

Mark was a lifelong member of Goodland UMC Church, and his faith and connection to his community were important parts of his life. He was proud of his Native American heritage and carried that pride with him in the way he lived, the music he loved, and the traditions he held close. He especially loved Choctaw songs and music. Even after the passing of his mother, he continued to miss her deeply, and her memory remained close to his heart throughout his life. Mark was a fisherman who loved being at the lake. He also enjoyed hunting and camping, and he appreciated the simple pleasures of time spent outdoors. He loved hamburgers, fries, and deer meat, and he especially enjoyed grilling steaks and he loved Jackie’s Banaha. He took pride in cleaning and detailing cars, and he was known for the care he put into whatever he did. Mark was also a card and coin collector. He was a loving person and a devoted uncle who cared deeply for his family. He worked hard and did whatever work needed to be done. He made it a habit to tell his family that he loved them, and he called to check on them often.  He also loved his dog, Issi Baker, who was a faithful companion to him and brought him great comfort and joy. He will be remembered for his steady spirit, his kind heart, and the love he gave so freely to his family and friends. His smile, his laughter, and his caring nature will not be forgotten.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Nawatha (Franklin) Baker; his grandparents, Ben and Virginia Franklin and Alice Baker; and a special cousin, Eric Jessie.

Mark is survived by his father, Billy Baker of the home; his sisters, Billie Bahena of Broken Bow and Adrienne Browning and her husband Zach of Idabel; his nieces and nephews, Jaylin “BeBe” Bahena and his wife Halleigh, Alexia “Cubby” Baker, Alyssa “Issa” and Bailey Hendricks, Aliyah “Eya” Browning, and Alivia “Livi” Browning; and his great-niece and great-nephew, Brynleigh “Bebe” Bahena and Nolan “Bubba” Hendricks. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory and the many ways he touched their lives.
