Maxine (Bean) Westbrook passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, in Durant, Oklahoma at the age of 80. She was born on Saturday, June 9, 1945, in Glover, Oklahoma to parents, Leonard David and Vercie R.V. (Hyde) Bean.
Maxine and Joe Wayne Westbrook were united in marriage on June 15, 1963, in DeQueen, AR.
A 1963 graduate of Broken Bow High School, Maxine's passion for learning continued with several college courses. She embraced her role as a lifetime homemaker, mother, and caretaker with grace and dedication. In her early years, Maxine served her community as a nurse at Dr. Roark's Clinic and as a substitute teacher for Broken Bow Middle School. She also worked alongside her family on their farm, tending to cows and baling hay. She found joy in sewing for her daughters, assisting those in need within her community, and indulging in her love for reading. Her greatest pleasure was watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.
A woman of deep faith, Maxine was a faithful member of the Glover Missionary Baptist Church. Her life was guided by her personal motto: "Don't give up, keep on keeping on, and if you're going to do something, do it right the first time."
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and R.V. Bean; her brother, Joe Bob Bean and brother-in-law, Earl Westbrook.
Maxine leaves to cherish her memory her husband of sixty-two years, Joe Wayne Westbrook of the home; her three daughters, Lisa Highfill and her husband Jeff, Laura Perry and her husband Mike, Susan Chalk and her husband Kevin; her five grandchildren, Alaina (Highfill) Richardson and husband, Robert, Kendra (Perry) Anderson, Kristopher Perry and wife Molly, RaeLee Chalk and Austin Chalk; and her two great-grandchildren, Iris and Violet Perry, who brought her immeasurable joy; sister, Joyce Westbrook; brother, Keith Bean and wife Sharon; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Friday, February 6, 2026 at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home, Broken Bow, OK.
Funeral Services are set for 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home, Broken Bow, OK with her son-in-law Mike Perry and grandson, Kristopher Perry officiating. Interment to follow at Glover Cemetery, Glover, OK.
