Melba Sullivan of Pickens, OK, passed away on September 1, 2023. She was born on October 2, 1935 to David and Ruby Baggs. Growing up, she embraced country life with friends and family, attended school at Battiest, and enjoyed going to church with life-long dedication to the holiness faith. On June 11, 1965, Melba married Elvin Sullivan, and they shared life together for 38 years until his passing. They also worked together for 26 years in his logging business until they retired. She always had a way of connecting with family through cooking and baking all the family favorites, and her family dogs, Princess and Riley, were always great companions.
Melba was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elvin Sullivan; stepson, Tommy Sullivan; brother, Marvin Baggs; nephew, Mark Baggs; and niece, Cindy Baggs.
She is survived by her two stepdaughters, Rene Baggs and husband Hank of Tulsa and Lynna Kay Sullivan of Bethel; her daughter-in-law, Carol Sullivan and late husband Tommy of Broken Bow; her four grandchildren, Brian Stovall and wife Erica, TJ Stovall and wife Amanda, Mindy Thompson and husband Johnny, and Kayla Rabe and husband Matthew; her ten great grandchildren- Hunter, Cooper and Emersyn Thompson; Kristin Layton and husband Seth; Bryce, Brayden and Braddock Stovall; Nate, Shelby and Sam Stovall; her three great great-grandchildren James, Macie, and Lucas; her brother, Chuck Baggs and wife Donna of Pickens; her sister, Wilma Jean Kincaid and husband Harold of Redland; her sister, Fayrene Christian of Pickens; her sister, Linda Faye Butler of Pickens (Thank you to Linda for the care and support you provided for Melba in her final years, it is truly appreciated); her sister-in -law, Retta Baggs of Pickens, OK; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 pm, Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Pickens Holiness Church, Pickens, OK.
Funeral service will be held at Pickens Holiness Church on September 6, 2023 at 2pm. Interment to follow at County Line Cemetery.
