Melva Moreland Obituary

Melva Dean Moreland, 79, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family. Melva was born on August 21, 1938, to the late William and Lois Rodgers Dobbins in Hominy, Oklahoma.

           

            Melva worked as a purchasing manager for Weyerhaeuser in Valliant for 25 years and she also worked in the McCurtain County Treasurer’s Office for 18 years. Melva enjoyed meeting all her friends at The Huddle for coffee and social conversation. She also loved going to garage sales, the Salvation Army, and Good Will. Melva enjoyed helping with the homeless, making sure they had coats to wear and fruit in their pockets. She loved to bake and cook big meals for her family. Melva loved all kinds of animals, especially her dog Prissy. More than anything, Melva loved spending time with her friends and family.

 

            Melva was preceded in death by her parents; Melvin and Lois Rodgers Dobbins, and brothers; Charles Canary and Donald Canary.

 

            She leaves to cherish her memory, husband; Jerry Moreland of the home, children; Pamela Cross Callaway and husband, Jimmy Dale of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Polly Toten of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and Scott Moreland and wife, Nicola of Omaha, Nebraska, grandchildren; Bryce Dollar, Brad Dollar and wife, Dawn, Alex Moreland, and Kate Moreland, great-grandchildren; Landon Dollar, Avery Dollar, Bradley Dollar, and Asia Dollar, special friends; Dawonna Bishop Cox of Haworth, Oklahoma, Aiyonna Vanslyke of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Anita Mullens of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Joyce May of McAlester, Oklahoma, Bill, Karen, and Kim Wilkerson, Betty and Jerry Gamble, and Keith and Karen Mullens of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and a host of other relatives and friends.

 

            The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Wurzburg and the entire staff at Advanced Heart Care for their never-ending care.

 

            A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.

 

            A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at 10:00 AM at the Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.

 

            Internment will follow at the Hochatown Cemetery in Hochatown, Oklahoma.
