Michael Paul Billy Obituary
Michael Paul Billy, 54, of Wright City, OK passed away Saturday, April 11, 2026 surrounded by his family in Oklahoma City, OK after a hard fought eight-year battle with cancer. He was born on October 6, 1971 in Talihina, OK “the handsome son” of James Wallace Billy and Wynell Ruth Watson. Growing up in Broken Bow, OK, he learned at the early age of fourteen, after the passing of his dad the value of hard work and family. Going to work mowing yards and buying diapers for his newborn baby sister. Cooking for the family and taking on the responsibilities of providing and taking care of others. These were the values he carried throughout his life.
He married his wife Karen Elliott on April 21, 2001 at Camp Israel Folsom in Battiest, OK. This year they would have celebrated twenty-five years together. This union was blessed with two daughters, Tehya and Jessica whom he did everything for. He taught them his passion to hunt and fish and how to shoot a gun. Buying Jessica her first gun before she was born. He raised his girls so they could take care of themselves. Always thinking of his girls before himself.
Michael worked many jobs throughout his life which gave him the opportunity to meet many friends. There was never a time or place you could go that Michael didn’t see someone he knew. One of those jobs, his last one, was taking people to their doctor’s appointments. He walked to work, “his bus”, each day to do what he enjoyed, driving for Tribal Transit. He was a hard worker not letting his battle with cancer slow him down. This kept him going with the purpose of helping others.
He enjoyed his hobby of firearms. He believed everyone needed to know and be taught how to use one safely. Spending most of his time outdoors, he loved to hunt and target practice with his family. He took both girls hunting each season and made many memories. Being with both when they harvested their first deer, which brought so much joy to him.
He is preceded in death by father, James Wallace Billy; maternal grandmother, Daisy Watson; aunts and uncles, Danny Watson, Dixon Watson and Ramona Franco; father-in-law, Michael Don Elliott.
Michael leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Karen of the home; daughters, Tehya and Jessica Billy also of the home; mother, Wynell Swartz of Broken Bow; sisters, Paulette Piercy of Broken Bow, Christina Billy of Garvin, Jennifer Madenwald and husband, Nate of Norman, OK and Alisha Washington of Keller, TX; aunts, Linda Baker of Dearborn, MI and Judy Yoesting of Wichita, KS; a special mother-in-law who considered him her son, Laverne Elliott; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Thursday, April 16, 2026 at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home Chapel.
