Michael Wayne Crawford Obituary

Michael Wayne Crawford entered his heavenly home on July 30, 2024 at the age of 72.  He was born to Maggie Ella Blackburn Crawford and Clyde Wayne Crawford on April 15, 1952 in Prairie Grove, AR.

Mike grew up in Kansas as a tremendous athlete playing multiple sports. He was the first Freshman in school history to play on the varsity basketball team.  He was also an All-Star quarterback with multiple college offers such as the University of Nebraska. However, life circumstances didn’t allow him to fulfill that dream.  Mike moved to Pickens, OK in 1971 and married Rhonda Holmes in 1973.  Mike was a devoted husband, Daddy and Papa.  Nothing thrilled him more than cooking fish for his family and friends while camping at the lake.  Mike was full of life; he loved to pester and pull pranks.  He was a hard-working man that would do anything for his family. He recently built a pond in front of his house with a dock where he, Rhonda and their dog Rascal spent many hours fishing and just enjoying life.  Mike was a talented craftsman taking pride in everything he built or worked with, but his greatest pride was his grandkids, he would tell anyone who would listen about their accomplishments and shenanigans.

Mike has been a member of the Pickens Free Holiness Church for 13 and half years. He was wonderfully saved on Christmas Day in 2010.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Maggie Crawford, paternal grandparents Clyde and Ola Crawford, maternal grandparents Elton and Opal Blackburn, stepmother Francis Crawford, stepbrothers Rick and Morris Hays, brother-in-law Wayne Bruce and father-in-law Vernon Holmes.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Rhonda of the home, daughter Candie and husband Richard Smith of Pickens, son Lance and wife Amy Crawford of Pickens, granddaughters Maggie Smith and London Crawford, grandsons Kollin Crawford and Logan Smith, brother and wife Robert “Gabby” and Sherri Crawford of Norman, OK, step-brother and wife Joe and Paula Hays of Oklahoma City, step-sister and husband Madeline and Bill Glenn of Ponca City, OK, very special dog, Rascal and a host of other relatives and friends.
